Right from the start, the artwork is beautiful (as it is through the majority of the Sakura series), but there’s something significantly wonderful in this game: excellent, memorable music! After digging into it, I found that Zack Parrish is the one who composed the music (he also composed the music for Sakura Fantasy, which was also quite excellent). In my humble opinion, they really needed something to freshen up what seemed to be a rinse-and-repeat model, and I think they’ve done an excellent job achieving that here.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the game has a level of depth that now places the Sakura series in the company of something greater than just VN eye candy. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much beyond the standard fare of what we’ve all come to know of the Sakura series: mammories.

Characters are not obnoxious, this is really just a fluff plot you can just sit down and enjoy the ride to ! About Sakura Spirit Minus would be the unfortunate lack of assets, especially obvious by the reused monsters ones and the characters not having alternate outfits such as during the festival. Kudos on the protagonist being an actually capable character although his personality is, like the genre usually does, a rather bland person. A very short and not too polished visual novel, but a satisfying one.
